Hip hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs is now expected to be released from prison earlier than originally scheduled, marking another twist in his ongoing legal saga.
The 56-year-old music executive was initially set to walk free on June 4, 2028. However, new reports indicate that his release date has been moved forward to April 25, 2028 — shaving more than a month off his sentence.
The adjustment comes as Combs continues to appeal his four-year prison term following convictions on sex trafficking and racketeering charges. His legal team is reportedly still working to challenge the ruling, but in the meantime, his sentence has already seen multiple changes.
Why His Release Date Changed
According to reports, Combs’ early release is linked to his acceptance into a drug rehabilitation program last November. Participation in such programs can sometimes reduce prison sentences, especially when inmates meet behavioral and institutional requirements.
This is not the first time his release date has been modified.
Previously, Combs’ projected release shifted from May 8 to June 4, 2028, after what insiders described as a difficult start to his incarceration in late 2025.
Reported Infractions Behind Bars
Combs is currently serving his sentence at Fort Dix, a federal prison in New Jersey. Since his transfer there on October 30, reports have suggested he faced several disciplinary issues.
Among the allegations was a claim that he consumed a homemade alcoholic drink — reportedly made from fermented soda, sugar, and apples. There were also reports that he made an unauthorized three-way phone call while in custody.
However, Combs’ representatives strongly denied the alcohol claims. In a statement shared via his official account on X, his team dismissed the reports as false.
“The rumors claiming Mr. Combs was caught with alcohol are completely false,” the statement read. “His only focus is becoming the best version of himself and returning to his family.”
A Fall From Power
Once considered one of the most powerful figures in hip hop and entertainment, Combs built an empire that spanned music, fashion, alcohol brands, and television. As the founder of Bad Boy Entertainment, he helped launch the careers of several major artists and shaped the sound of an era.
His legal troubles, however, marked a dramatic turning point in his career and public image.
While his revised release date is now set for April 2028, the outcome of his appeal could further impact his future.
For now, attention remains on how he navigates the remainder of his sentence — and whether he will successfully overturn his conviction before his projected release.
