RoseOnAllSidesHQ joins Nigerians and the wider African community in the UK in celebrating media mogul Mo Abudu and the opening of EbonyLife Place London.

Officially opened by Mayor of London Sadiq Khan on 8 October, the new cultural destination is in the Nine Elms area of south London. At its heart is a 160-seat cinema dedicated to African and Black film, alongside spaces for art, food, fashion and music.

This is a remarkable achievement and a milestone for African storytelling. For years, we have spoken about the importance of having spaces where we can tell our own stories, share our creativity and invite the world to experience the richness and diversity of our culture. EbonyLife Place gives that vision a home in London.

The grand opening brought together prominent guests to celebrate Mo Abudu’s vision and the cultural connections between Lagos and London. While many Nigerians in the UK may have hoped to be more directly involved in the occasion, we are delighted to see this landmark become a reality.

We celebrate Mo Abudu for her vision, determination and lasting contribution to African media and culture. May EbonyLife Place flourish as a welcoming home for filmmakers, artists and audiences, and a place where African stories can reach and inspire the world.
