Human rights activist and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has reacted to the defeat of Senator Ned Nwoko in the All Progressives Congress (APC) Delta North senatorial primary election.
Reports from the primary election held on Monday showed that former Delta State governor Ifeanyi Okowa overwhelmingly defeated Nwoko during the exercise.
According to the reported results, Nwoko secured only three votes, while Okowa polled 4,462 votes in his ward.
Reacting to the outcome, Sowore took to social media to mock the senator, describing the defeat as another example of what he called the failures within Nigeria’s elite political structure.
In a statement shared online, Sowore argued that political influence built on propaganda, manipulation, and patronage would eventually collapse.
“The fall of so-called billionaire Senator Prince Ned Nwoko exposes the rot behind Nigeria’s elite culture of wealth without honor,” Sowore wrote.
He further claimed that there is little loyalty among individuals involved in corrupt political dealings, adding:
“When power and influence are built on manipulation, propaganda, and political patronage, the collapse is always inevitable. In the end, there is truly no honor among thieves.”
The ruling All Progressives Congress is currently conducting senatorial primary elections across the country ahead of the next general election cycle.
Political observers believe the ongoing primaries may see several serving lawmakers lose their chances of returning to the National Assembly as internal party battles continue to reshape political alignments across different states.
