Oba Europe Convention 2026: A Grand Celebration of Heritage, Unity and Visionary Leadership

The Oba Europe Convention 2026 may have drawn to a close, but its elegance, impact and cultural significance continue to echo powerfully among the people of Oba, both at home and across the diaspora.
Organised under the distinguished banner of the Oba Patriotic Union, OPU UK & Ireland, the convention has been widely celebrated as a resounding success. From its impressive organisation to its remarkable attendance and vibrant display of cultural pride, the gathering delivered far more than a memorable event; it offered a renewed statement of identity, unity and ambition for Ndi-Oba worldwide.
With colour, class and community spirit on full display, the convention proudly showcased the rich heritage and progressive potential of Oba. It was a gathering that reaffirmed Oba’s place as a great and forward-looking city, one with the capacity to set a powerful example not only for towns in Anambra State, but for communities across the globe.

A defining highlight of the convention was the warm recognition of the transformational leadership of His Royal Majesty, Igwe Engr. Augustine Emelobe, KSC, GON, Eze-Okpoko II of Oba. His visionary stewardship was widely praised for repositioning Oba from a period of uncertainty into a thriving, united and development-focused community.
His Majesty’s roadmap for growth continues to inspire sons and daughters of Oba across the world. Particular commendation was given to his laudable initiatives in youth skill acquisition, environmental sustainability through tree planting, education and scholarship programmes, road development, water infrastructure and community security.
Members of OPU UK & Ireland, together with sons and daughters of Oba, reaffirmed their commitment to fully supporting His Majesty’s vision to make Oba an enviable city, not only within Anambra State, but on the global stage.
The convention also paid glowing tribute to members of the Igwe’s cabinet who formed part of the royal entourage. Special recognition was given to Sir Chief Ekene Ebuzeme, Odogwu Oba, whose outstanding contributions earned him an award for delivering a first-class 2026 Ofala Festival in honour of His Royal Majesty. His dedication to the growth, dignity and advancement of Oba was warmly acknowledged.
Appreciation was also extended to Chief Dr. Gerald Ikedilo, Ichie Akachialor III of Oba, and other distinguished personalities whose support contributed immensely to the success of the convention.
The organisers further expressed sincere gratitude to the OPU Executives, Elders, Ichies, Chiefs, Nze na Ozo, Iyom, Oba Women Association, and members of the Oba sons and daughters sub-committee for their timely support, commitment and dedication to ensuring the success of this year’s historic gathering.
Beyond the glamour and celebration, the convention also placed strong emphasis on peace, unity and reconciliation among Oba people in the diaspora. Special commendation was given to the peace initiatives instituted by His Majesty among members of OPU UK & Ireland, under the spiritual guidance of His Grace, Most Rev. Bishop Gideon Ilechukwu. These efforts were described as essential foundations for lasting unity, collective strength and meaningful progress.
A special note of appreciation was also given to Nze Chike Amazu, the dynamic and resilient leader of OPU UK & Ireland, whose tireless efforts helped deliver the landmark convention. His leadership was praised as a shining example of dedication, courage and unwavering commitment to the Oba cause.
In her closing appreciation, Amb. Iyom Jane Ezolu, Coordinator of the 2026 Oba Europe Convention and Iyom Ugoejiemeonu, Oba, thanked everyone who contributed in one way or another to the success of the event. She noted that the convention’s success was a clear demonstration of what unity, vision and commitment can achieve when people come together for the advancement of their homeland.
The Oba Europe Convention 2026 was more than a gathering. It was a celebration of heritage, a reaffirmation of identity and a bold reminder that when Ndi-Oba unite around purpose, progress becomes not only possible, but inevitable.
