Police in Bayelsa State have launched an investigation after a 40-year-old man was found dead inside a guest house in Yenagoa under circumstances that remain unclear.
The deceased, identified simply as Felix, was reportedly from Cross River State and worked as a mobile phone repairer at the Seriake Dickson Shopping Complex in Yenagoa.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at a guest house located along Azikoro Road in the Ekeki area of the state capital.
Body Discovered by Cleaner
According to eyewitnesses, the discovery was made after a cleaner at the guest house entered the room and found Felix lying lifeless.
The cleaner immediately alerted management, prompting the matter to be reported to the police.
Witnesses said the deceased was found unclothed inside the room.
The woman who was reportedly seen entering the room with him earlier was no longer there when the body was discovered.
Authorities have not publicly identified the woman, nor have they stated whether she is a suspect.
Police Recover Items From the Room
Sources said police officers who responded to the scene recovered several sachets of alcoholic beverages from the room before evacuating the body.
The body was taken away for further examination as investigators began efforts to determine the cause and circumstances of the death.
Police have not yet announced the outcome of any medical examination or confirmed the cause of death.
Three People Questioned
The incident drew attention at the Seriake Dickson Shopping Complex, where Felix was well known as a phone repair technician.
Friends, colleagues and customers gathered after learning of his death, expressing shock over the development.
According to reports, police questioned three individuals during the early stages of the investigation, including:
- The guest house owner.
- A cleaner who discovered the body.
- Felix’s brother, Dennis.
Dennis was reportedly found with the deceased’s mobile phone but was later released after explaining that the device had been handed to him by a charging operator while family members were searching for Felix.

Police have continued investigating the circumstances surrounding Felix’s death.
Authorities have not announced any arrests in connection with the incident or indicated whether foul play is suspected.
