Posted on June 6, 2026

Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have rescued the younger sister of former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, along with her twin sons following their abduction in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The victims, identified as Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, were freed during a police operation that also led to a gun battle with the suspected kidnappers.

According to police sources, two members of the kidnapping gang were killed during the confrontation, while security operatives recovered two firearms from the suspects.

The victims were abducted on June 3, 2026, at about 7:30 a.m. in the Challenge area of Ibadan South-West Local Government Area while Mrs. John-Paul was reportedly taking her children to school.

Following the incident, security agencies launched an intensive operation to track the kidnappers and secure the victims’ release.

Police sources disclosed that sustained intelligence gathering, surveillance and tactical pressure eventually forced the kidnappers into a confrontation with law enforcement officers.

The ensuing operation resulted in the successful rescue of Mrs. John-Paul and her children without further harm.

Authorities have not yet released additional details regarding the identities of the suspects or whether other members of the gang remain at large.

The rescue operation has been welcomed by residents and security observers, who praised the swift response by law enforcement agencies.

Kidnapping remains a major security concern in several parts of Nigeria, prompting increased calls for stronger intelligence-driven operations and enhanced protection of citizens.

Police are expected to continue investigations into the incident and pursue other individuals connected to the abduction.
