Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has reaffirmed his support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid and the Rainbow Coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Fubara also endorsed the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Rivers State, Kingsley Chinda, urging his supporters to back the coalition.
The governor made his position known while addressing supporters, saying political hostilities in Rivers State were over and that the state needed to focus on peace and development.
“We have made peace in the state, and I am supporting the Rainbow Coalition. President Bola Tinubu is our president, and he is the one that we are supporting,” Fubara said.
He added that anyone who believed in his leadership should support Chinda and other candidates aligned with the coalition.
Fubara also addressed supporters who were reportedly waiting for political benefits before declaring their support, insisting that they should not expect anything in return before joining the movement.
“For those of you who are saying Fubara, let’s stay, we want to collect something before we run, there is nothing to collect,” he said, adding that he had returned to his political family.
Fubara Calls for Peace in Rivers
The governor said Rivers State needed to move forward, describing peace as essential to the state’s progress.
He urged his supporters not to interpret their political alignment as an endorsement of his own political ambition, stressing that he would not support any arrangement capable of destabilising the state.
The Rainbow Coalition is associated with FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and brings together political allies from different parties.
Fubara’s declaration signals continued political realignment in Rivers State ahead of the 2027 elections, with Tinubu seeking a second term and Chinda preparing to contest the governorship.
The development comes after years of political tension between Fubara and Wike’s camp, making their reported reconciliation a significant factor in the state’s evolving political landscape.
